Not the definitive list of problems but a walk through some of the key pension policy issues that are on my mind, including pension freedom and taxation, Value For Money and Consumer Duty, the Statement Season that isn’t, the lack of joined-up-ness on the Stronger Nudge and the Treasury’s plans for regulatory reform. Really interesting, I struggle with the govt contribution, needs to be equal for all. Why would you give the most to those earning the most? Nonsensical in regards to pensions. I’ve been self employed for years now and just use my ISA. Nice and easy, no overly complicated rules. Admittedly I lose the govt top up but only relevant for the gap between SP and tax allowance, above that it’s taxed anyway. Not worth the risk of the rules changing.
